Selected President-Elect of College of New Scholars

Associate Professor Joanna Quinn, has been selected as President-Elect of The College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists of the Royal Society of Canada.

Quinn was named a member of the College in 2015. Quinn’s research considers the role of acknowledgement in overcoming the causes of conflict. She has written widely on the truth commissions in Uganda, Haiti, and elsewhere, and on the role of customary practices of acknowledgement and justice in transitional justice in Uganda, Fiji, and Solomon Islands.

Joanna Quinn will assume the office of President-Elect during the Celebration of Excellence of the RSC on the weekend of November 23-25, 2017 at the Fairmont Winnipeg Hotel in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her two-year term as President of the College will begin in November 2018.

The College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists is Canada's first national system of multi-disciplinary recognition for the emerging generation of Canadian intellectual leadership. The Members of the College are scholars and artists, who, at an early stage in their career, have demonstrated a high level of achievement. The College has gender parity and linguistic and cultural diversity. Scientists, artists, researchers in the humanities, and social scientists of the College strive to overcome disciplinary and academic boundaries in the common pursuit of knowledge.
